The University provides on-campus accommodation to students in five halls of residence (dormitories) with a capacity of 680 beds. Since it is not possible to accommodate all our students who want to stay on-campus, room allocation is on a first come-first served basis. That is, we accommodate students on the basis of an early application, matched with an early payment for the room, as indicated in the application form displayed on the University website. New and continuing students are invited to send their applications for accommodation and pay for the room early enough to deserve consideration and subsequent room allocation. Application season for new students is after the University has sent out joining instructions where-in application forms are included.

- Students with physical challenges/health challenges
- International Students

Since it is not possible to accommodate all students who want to stay on-campus, there are off-campus hostels which are monitored by the University; students may get information on off-campus hostel facilities from Dean of Students’ Office.
WATER AND ELECTRICITY SERVICES
Water and electricity services are available all the time; this leads to a suitable environment for the students in their studies and their well-being as whole. We have water service from DUWASA always, but also, we have our own water supply from our water catchment which provides enough water for the entire University. There is safe drinking water with modern machine from Eco water which provides clean and safe water for Tsh. 200 per litre.
INTERNET SERVICE
University is providing internet services for all students which enhance them to access the academic materials consisting of millions of books online using the internet. St John’s is a very good place for studies.
SAFETY AND SECURITY SERVICE
In-campus, there is a security guard service group which provides good service of security to make sure students live comfortably. The security guard group makes sure the students are safe when they are in class, hostels and all over the place in Campus for twenty-four hours per week.
STUDENT HEALTH AND SANITATION
The student community has enjoyed good health over the years. This has resulted from health care services and health education provided by university dispensary, government and private hospitals in town. Also, some sanitary education and services have been given and insisted upon. We recommend students to join the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) so that they have access to treatment wherever will be. The availability of water makes it easy to manage the cleanness of the buildings and hence makes the students comfortable.
CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT
St John’s has a favourable environment which motivates the students for their career. It has a natural environment with natural Dodoma plants.
COUNSELLING, GUIDANCE AND ADVISORY SERVICES
All students with personal problems whether or not related to study will have access to counselling and advice services at the University Counselling Bureau. Students at St John’s University are encouraged to talk about the difficulties; whether emotional, academic or involving relationships, in order to find a way forward. Confidentiality is ensured. Most of the time, students come to ask for guidance, advice and counselling when they experience frustration, problems or difficulties; this is due to a number of reasons such as studies, family problems, shortage of income, when their beloved passed away, when they fall to be victims of bad events, to mention are few.
